establishing a direct dialogue with the surrounding landscape. The designed space allows guests to restore their connection with the natural environment throughout activities such as teamaking, yoga and meditation, experiencing the Latvian vernacular culture and architecture in a contemporary way. The building is composed by two interconnected elements unified by a unique roof: the Tea Factory, which links the old process of tea making with the atmosphere of the ancient stone barn and the new Guesthouse, built from new merging the tradition with a contemporary and sustainable design. The space of interconnection, the nams (originally the core of the house) is reinterpreted as a void open space for gathering and various activities. The Tea Factory, located inside the old stone walls, is achieved under the decision of realizing a non-invasive intervention that detatches the new construction elements from the existing walls, which remain untouched. The interior space and the openings to the exterior therefore remain the same of the original, to which is added a new wooden roof. This last one restores the habitability and comfort of the building replacing the existing roof, but standing on a independent new structure. The intervention refers to the traditional architecture of the klets (granary), which probably was the existing barns primitive use, characterized by the open porches and the variety of architectural treatments. The nams in the middle is the heart of the house. In analogy with the tradition, it replicates the original aggregation point and core of the Latvian house since the most ancient history. Located outside the house at the beginning, the nams later on became the centre of the istaba (main house), taking the function of kitchen and living room. The concept that the design proposes is a large opening on the roof wich simbolically recalls the subtraction of this space from the interior in favour of a space which is permeable to people and natural elements. This partially covered environment puts in communication not only the two opposite sides of the building but the exterior as well, becoming a hybrid room which can accomodate a large variety of activities without excluding meteorological phaenomenas. Two large sliding doors enable guests to adapt the space to their needs, to shutter the sun and to play with the atmosphere of this particular place. The Guesthouse is able to accomodate six guests, providing three bedrooms with wide views framing the forest, two bathrooms, a storage room, a large open space living room and kitchen. <img that has been converted into residential use. The interior space is characterized by a large, glassed main area that allows light to express itself through a multitude of reflections, and it has been designed to achieve maximum flexibility in reconfiguring the interior furnishings. The distinctive element of the loft is the sculptural block made of oak wood, which is integrated into the space and serves as a partition between two areas of the house. This furnishing element is conceived as an extension of the existing solid wall and is versatile to optimize the space. Born from the idea of transforming the surrounding environment, this volume plays with the contrasts of different materials: warm woods with different grain directions, steel, and glass. The kitchen is very bright, and thanks to the opening doors, it simulates the theatrical backdrop of a scenic space. The interactive experience contributes to generating dynamism and constantly stimulates new dialogues between users and the architecture. The finishes aim to give the space a warm and welcoming atmosphere, typical of a domestic environment, in contrast to the metallic elements that evoke the industrial design of the place. Unfold promotes a serene, simple, and refined way of living within an architecture that has been carefully studied in its details, proportions, and atmosphere. <img width="5831" height="6610" La connessione con la città e l’identificazione della scuola come ‘civic center’ sono due dei temi strategici nell’impostazione del progetto. LICAM si pone come un nuovo polo urbano, e collega due arterie della città, Via Torino a sud e Via Garibaldi a nord-est, attraverso il disegno del suo nuovo cortile. Il progetto dialoga da un lato, con il fronte urbano di Via Torino e dall’altro interagisce con il contesto più protetto, il cortile, con una forte proiezione simbolica verso la comunità.L’assertività volumetrica è generata attraverso una dicotomia tra leggerezza e matericità e da due tagli simbolicamente orientati, uno legato all’impronta storica della città e l’altro direzionato verso l’impianto naturalistico delle Alpi. Questi tagli definiscono il volume e conferiscono iconicità all’edificio. Il taglio parallelo all’asse storico di Via Sant’Anselmo che collega l’Arco di Augusto con Porta Pretoria rappresenta l’apertura dell’edificio verso la comunità, mentre il taglio che fronteggia le Alpi su via Torino rappresenta il rispetto per il paesaggio naturale e la sua integrazione nell’architettura.La peculiarità dei suoi profili è tale da imporsi nel panorama cittadino con forza e riconoscibilità.I tagli nella volumetria generano tre masse scultoree che si elevano dallo stesso ‘piedistallo’ e sono plasmate in tre altezze diverse per movimentare e superare la rigidità del volume. La peculiarità del progetto è il dualismo sinergico tra il volume solido e il volume trasparente. Come Giano bifronte, LICAM ha due volti, un volto solido e materico caratterizzato nella sua composizione architettonica da aperture indirizzate ad integrare il contesto naturale circostante, esistente e di progetto, mentre, l’altro volto è trasparente, specchio della conoscenza. Il volume solido è caratterizzato da aperture con forme geometriche differenti che richiamano l’organicità della natura, sul fronte di Via Torino c’è una relazione con le Alpi e sul fronte interno si rapporta al disegno della pavimentazione del nuovo cortile progettato. Il volume trasparente segue una tripartizione della facciata rivisitata in chiave contemporanea. Emerge da un attacco a terra solido, presenta un modulo di facciata che si ripete su tutti i fronti con marcapiani orizzontali, beneficia di tende che aumentano il comfort degli spazi interni, ed infine, delinea un coronamento, che, come lama aggettante, migliora le proporzioni e slancia il volume. I due linguaggi sono raccordati da forti segni architettonici orizzontali: nel volume trasparente le lame, mentre nel volume solido, modellato come ‘pagoda capovolta’, sono evidenti ombre generate dalla rastremazione volumetrica. L’utilizzo del legno, che si propone con forza materica da un lato, ed esprime tutta la sua leggerezza dall’altro, porta omogeneità e radicalità all’edifico. <img width="1911" height="996" l'essere umano in un'altra dimensione che intriga la mente. Quando qualcuno si avvicina ai pannelli, entra in un universo dove non riconosce più il suo intorno. La convergenza dei riflessi dà vita a una composizione astratta affascinante, catturando l'essenza della nostra ricerca. La combinazione di bande orizzontali di specchi e bande vuote crea un'immagine completamente diversa dal normale. Una persona è posizionata dietro i pannelli e un'altra davanti. Quando i loro sguardi si incontrano nel riflesso, le loro immagini si fondono in un solo profilo, cancellando i confini delle loro identità individuali. L‘opera invita gli spettatori a riflettere sulla natura della percezione architettonica e il suo dialogo con lo spazio circostante, la complessità dell'immagine di sé stessi nella società contemporanea e la necessità che abbiamo di essere legati gli uni con gli altri in quanto esseri umani. Le arti di strada abbracciano la comunità, come la luna orbita in un abbraccio eterno intorno alla terra. In Orbita è un satellite urbano, un luogo di condivisione culturale che promuove l’espressione artistica e il ritorno delle arti nella strada nello spazio pubblico, riaffermando la loro importanza nella formazione dell'identità sociale. L'obiettivo è diventare il fulcro del futuro, dove cresceranno nuove generazioni capaci di plasmare nuove idee e visioni per la comunità, un rapporto innovativo col tempo e un forte senso di appartenenza. Per questo motivo, la scuola si concentra sull'uso degli spazi collettivi, sull'identità territoriale in cui si inserisce e sulla stretta connessione con la natura e gli spazi aperti. Lo sviluppo principale dell'edificio è al piano terra, in cui i volumi solidi si integrano con il verde circostante, generando una successione di spazi aperti, transizioni e aree di relax tra natura e cielo. Questa fluidità crea un sistema intimo e funzionale, invitando gli utenti a considerare l'edificio come una seconda casa, dove un'atmosfera domestica di pace e tranquillità accompagnerà il percorso di apprendimento degli alunni. Utilizzando materiali come il mattone per la sua tradizione, il legno per la sua sensazione di calore e il vetro per la sua trasparenza, la scuola evoca l'idea di casa per tutti gli utenti.
