The project takes part in south west Milan, a zone under development where there is a strict necessity of fast connections between the southern part of the Naviglio river with the Northern part, where the station and the services are located.
The design points to establish new relationships between the city and the landscape through a careful redevelopment that is able to fully exploit the potential of the area.
The main theme is focused on the aspect of layering of the city fabrics, infrastructures and rhythms of diffused energy. The construction of the bridge meets the importance of avoiding architectural barriers and integrates the existing cycle path.
The cycle pedestrian bridge formally interprets the historical bridges that are present along the Milanese canals, creating an object that is simultaneously contemporary, for its dynamic and innovative shape, and traditional for its connection with the past.
